Hi! I'm Kim Knox, and I'm delighted to be your Guide for The Mining Co.'s New England for Visitors site. If you've never been to New England, I hope that the information here will convince you to spend some time in this glorious part of the world soon! And, if you're lucky as I am to live in the American Northeast, I hope you'll find new ideas here for exploring the history and beauty in our own backyard.
I've been a New Englander since December of 1996 when I relocated to a Hartford, Connecticut, suburb. From my catbird seat here in the heart of New England, I hope to provide you with a comprehensive source of information on the region that's simple to use and chock full of the best the web has to offer. I am a native of New York's Hudson Valley and have always been drawn to explore neighboring New England. I received a B.A. summa cum laude from Marist College in History and Public Relations and completed an M.S. in Education at the State University of New York at New Paltz. While living in the Hudson Valley, I worked as a newspaper freelancer, a history teacher, education and public programs coordinator at Montgomery Place--a 434-acre historic site, and as editor and spokesperson for the local gas and electric utility company. Here in Connecticut, I've now joined BHJ, LLC, a financial consulting firm, as an Associate with responsibility for product design and marketing. I also continue to freelance as a writer and public relations counselor.
I'm looking forward not only to sharing my insights with you, but in hearing your ideas and input for features and resources that should be part of this guide for New England Visitors. I'm anxious to be both a tour guide and a tourist myself! Please write to me and share your thoughts! Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you in New England!
