On Friday, November 7, 2008, my six-year-old daughter and I had the privilege to serve as judges at the Boston Christmas Festival's 15th annual Gingerbread House Competition. All of the entries were delightful, but the winners, as you'll see in this photo gallery, took gingerbread creativity to an entirely different level. Click each photo below for a larger view.
This year's top entry was an obvious choice. A team of four pastry chefs from Legal Sea Foods hit the gingerbread ball out of the gingerbread ballpark with their amazingly detailed Fenway Park confection. We left with a tremendous appreciation for the hours that went into creating all of these unique gingerbread structures.
The Boston Christmas Festival runs through Sunday, November 9, 2008, at the Seaport World Trade Center. At the festival's conclusion, these gingerbread masterpieces will be sold to the highest bidders, and proceeds benefit Rosie's Place, a sanctuary for poor and homeless women in Boston's South End.
