This photo was taken at the entrance to the Marco Polo Trail, a distinctive area of the zoo that was completed in 1996. Along the path through this 2.5-acre exhibit, visitors have a cultural, historical and zoological experience as they trace the Asian journey of 13th-century explorer Marco Polo and encounter some of the animals native to the countries that he visited.
