With its waterfront location, superb service, luxury accommodations and elegant cuisine, The Chanler is not only an ideal place for a honeymoon or other romantic escape, it's an incomparable setting for a wedding, meeting, corporate retreat or other function. The Chanler welcomes group events, particularly during the spring and fall shoulder seasons in Newport. Those who wish to hold large events at The Chanler must buy out the entire property, and rates (as of 2005) range from $15,000 to $25,000 per day to take over the estate, depending on the season. Former General Manager Jeff David said, "It's cheaper than renting a yacht or a house in the Hamptons," and, even more important, "It's fun." It also ensures that other guests won't be disturbed if a wedding or other party is taking place.
While up to 200 people can be accommodated for a tented function on the lawn, David said The Chanler is best suited for more intimate functions for 100 or fewer guests.
