America's Cup Returns to Newport

Between 1930 and 1983, New England's most picturesque city by the sea--Newport, Rhode Island--was perennially host to the America's Cup yachting championship. After an absence of nearly 30 years, America's Cup yacht racing returns to Newport June 26 through July 1, 2012.

On June 23, 2012, I had the chance to visit Fort Adams State Park, a prime viewing area for race spectators, as preparations were underway for this America's Cup World Series event in Newport. It was so exciting to see America's Cup flags rippling in the breeze and sleek America's Cup yachts testing the waters on the most glorious day I've ever experienced in Newport. On this photo tour, I'll share a preview of what to expect and tips for travelers headed to Newport for the America's Cup season final.
