Maine Lobster Pie Recipe from Berry Manor Inn in Rockland, Maine

Enjoy lobster in a new way with this crustless savory pie recipe from Maine's Berry Manor Inn. This recipe was featured during The Historic Inns of Rockland, Maine's 2005 Pies on Parade Inn to Inn Tour in celebration of National Pie Day, January 23. Reprinted with permission.

Cook Time: 1 hour

Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 7 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 chopped shallot
  • 2/3 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 to 1-1/2 cups chopped, cooked lobster meat
  • 2 tablespoons Old Bay Seasoning

Preparation:

Grease a 10-inch pie pan or tart pan.

Beat eggs. Add milk, flour, salt and pepper. Blend well and add shallot, cottage cheese, lobster and Old Bay Seasoning.

Mix well and pour into prepared 10-inch pie or tart pan. Cover with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour until eggs are firm and lightly brown. Serve immediately or keep warm in oven at 200 degrees until ready to serve.

Note: Can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator until the next morning. May be modified for 9-inch pie pan by using 6 eggs, 1/3 cup cottage cheese and 1/3 cup milk.
