Peppermint Crunch Cookies Recipe

Crushed peppermint candy canes give these cookies their zing. Add this holiday recipe from The Tamworth Inn in Tamworth Village, New Hampshire, to your own cookie repertoire. Reprinted with the permission of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Bureau.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-1/2 Tbs. baking powder
  • 6 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy (candy canes)

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter. Add sugar and blend until light. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Sift dry ingredients and add to butter/sugar/egg batter in two batches alternating with milk. Finally, stir in crushed candy. Spoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned. Makes five dozen.
