2. You can also step back in time this weekend at Old Sturbridge Village's New England Fall Festival. On Saturday and Sunday, the living history museum offers craft demonstrations, music, horse-drawn cart rides, an agricultural fair, hands-on activities and more.
3. There are also fun weekend events for those who like to imbibe. Stonington Vineyards in Stonington, Connecticut, hosts its Wine & Food Festival on Saturday and Sunday featuring tastings, live music and more. Admission is free.
4. And The Harpoon Brewery in Boston hosts its annual Octoberfest this Friday and Saturday. Take it from me, the price of admission is worth it just for chicken dancing competition.
5. And finally, it's the last weekend for The Big E, the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Massachusetts. Enjoy New England's largest fair and catch American Idol winner Carrie Underwood's free concert on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
For those of you who like to plan ahead, here's a tip and some good news. Trick or treating isn't just for kids! On Saturday, October 29, a group of eight B&Bs in New Hampshire's White Mountains region will host an inn-to-inn Halloween tour for adults featuring treats and clues to help you win a fabulous getaway prize.
