Tanglewood Photo Tour

Tanglewood may offer a highbrow line-up of classical music performances, but that doesn't mean you have to leave the kids at home. On the contrary, the Boston Symphony Orchestra offers many special programs designed to encourage families to introduce children to the delights of orchestral music including hosting an annual Tanglewood Family Concert and offering free lawn tickets for kids 17 and under for most performances. If you're not sure your children can sit through a symphony concert--even on the lawn--consider taking them to an Open Rehearsal for their first Tanglewood experience.

According to Tanglewood's official grounds policy, children may play ball (and other games which may disturb others sitting on the lawn) only behind the Visitor Center or near Ozawa Hall. Ball playing is not permitted on the lawn of the Shed at any time when the grounds are open for a Shed concert.
