The Hartford Star Shuttle made its debut on September 6, 2005. This free shuttle bus service connects the Connecticut Convention Center and the riverfront with downtown hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions.

I'll take you along on a virtual tour and tell you about my experience riding the Hartford Star Shuttle for the first time on October 21, 2005, but first, here are some basics:

Hours of Operation: The Hartford Star Shuttle operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m. To verify current hours of operation, call 860-522-8101.

Shuttle Stops: The free shuttle makes 15 stops on its route through downtown Hartford. As you can see from the photo above, we got on at Stop 6, which is located on Asylum Street. Connecticut Transit provides this handy map of the Star Shuttle's route and stops, which you may want to print before you venture downtown. All stops are clearly marked with signs--look for the star.
