"If you want to see a roadside farmstand that has it all and colors, shapes and sizes you never have seen before, come this weekend!" coaxed Farmer Todd Brown in an email I received in late September 2010. Invitations to visit interesting New England places pop up in my inbox all the time, but there was something about this email that captured my imagination. Just how unusual could the pumpkins, squashes and gourds the Brown family grows and sells be?

On October 23, 2010, I finally had a chance to detour through Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, on my way home from Boston to see for myself.
