I've been documenting the fall color change outside my Connecticut window since 1999, and I've never captured a scene like this. This is the view on Saturday evening, shortly after we lost power at 5 p.m. The snow was still falling rapidly, and trees--many still with vivid leaves on their branches--were already beginning to bend under the weight of the snow. All night, we listened to the sickening sounds of limbs cracking and falling.
