Vermont's largest agricultural fair is an entertainment extravaganza. Back for its 86th year in 2007 with a theme of "Fun Happens," the 10-day fair features everything from farming exhibits and cooking demonstrations to midway rides and concert performances by headliners including Trace Adkins.

Catch the vibe at this festival of roots music and dance, held over Labor Day weekend in Charlestown, Rhode Island's Ninigret Park. Camping is permitted on-site.

The Eastern States Exposition, better known as "The Big E," is back for the 86th time in 2007. The fair, which celebrates the bounty of all of New England, runs for 17 days and features top-name entertainment, rides, shopping, foods from around the region and a daily Mardi Gras Parade.

Tour U.S. Coast Guard vessels, hear seafaring music and stories, watch seafood cooking demonstrations, shop for maritime art and crafts, participate in family activities and much more at this annual harborfont festival, which also features food vendors selling fish and shellfish selections. The theme for this year's event is "Women and the Working Waterfront." Festival admission is free.

Bring the whole clan! The New Hampshire Highland Games, presented by The New Hampshire Gathering of the Scottish Clans, are the largest Scottish cultural festival in the Northeast, according to the ABA. This event features entertainment from Scotland and North America and combines the best of Celtic and Gaelic cultures. There will be bagpipe bands and Highland dancers on hand to entertain visitors. Competitions include contests of strength, sheepdog trials and a fiddling championship. The Highland Games make the ABA's Top 100 Events list for the seventh consecutive year.

It's a parade to rival Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! You'll see more than 22 giant balloons when you head for Stamford, Connecticut, for the Parade Spectacular the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The parade also features marching bands, floats, and more. There's entertainment, too, at the Inflation Party held from 3 to 6 p.m. the day before the parade.
