14 New England and New York State Events Make ABA's Top 100

Each year, The American Bus Association (ABA) selects North America's Top 100 Events. While the focus is on choosing those events that make great motorcoach destinations, the top events are a diverse selection of festivals and celebrations that you'll enjoy no matter how you get there! This year, the ABA's Selection Committee tapped 14 New England and New York State events for the Top 100 List.

Here's a round-up of the events in New England and neighboring New York that made the Top 100 List:

May 19-September 23, 2007
French and Indian War 250th Anniversary Commemoration
Crown Point, Lake George, Ogdensburg, Oswego, Rome, Ticonderoga and Youngstown, New York

Re-enactors will portray British, French and Colonial soldiers and their Indian allies as New York continues its commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the French and Indian War, fought from 1754 to 1763. There will be 13 events held this year. The signature 2007 event--the reenactment of the August 1757 siege of Fort William Henry in Lake George--will be held September 15-16.

Lobster Days

Celebrate Memorial Day weekend at Connecticut's Mystic Seaport. In addition to touring the seaport's historic buildings and ships (this photo tour will give you a preview), you can feast on succulent lobster served picnic-style from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day. Funds raised during Lobster Days support local charities.

Newport Flower Show

New England's premier outdoor flower show is held each year at Rosecliff, one of Newport's historic mansions. The colorful event features judged plants, flowers and exhibits; lectures by gardening experts and a gardening marketplace. National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum's Annual Induction Weekend
Cooperstown, New York

If you haven't been to Cooperstown in a few years, this is the summer to visit. The 2007 induction ceremony on July 29 will welcome baseball legends Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. to the Hall of Fame. Admission to the induction ceremony is free, and other events are planned throughout the weekend. You'll want to tour the National Baseball Hall of Fame, of course--this photo tour will show you some of the highlights.

Annual League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Fair

The oldest craft fair in America celebrates 74 years this year. You'll find more than 200 crafters, plus daily performances, workshops and exhibits, at the annual League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort.

American Folk Festival
Bangor, Maine

After hosting the National Folk Festival from 2002-2004, Bangor introduced its own American Folk Festival to continue the tradition of bringing musicians and craftspeople from across the U.S. to Maine's waterfront. The three-day summer festival is a celebration of American music, crafts, dance, food and storytelling.
