The Mohegan Sun Casino
in Uncasville, Connecticut, has always impressed visitors with its larger-than-life displays, including the world's largest planetarium dome and the massive Taughannick Falls. For the ninth year in 2013, Mohegan Sun hosts its World of Holiday Marvels
featuring an amazing collection of over-the-top decorations, including towering Christmas trees, 10-foot wreaths and life-sized nutcrackers. The pièce de résistance is once again a 28-foot-tall, walk-through gingerbread house. This year's edible abode is composed of 20,000 pounds of royal icing and gingerbread bricks and is guarded by four 7-foot soldiers made of sweet treat. New this year: a handcrafted, spiraling, 22-foot-tall Sky Tree intricately decorated with elements inspired by Mohegan tribal traditions. You'll find it in front of Ben & Jerry's.
These photos from Mohegan Sun's first World of Holiday Marvels will give you a preview of what you'll see. Don't miss the 2013 holiday display, which kicks off on December 5 at 7 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony and indoor fireworks. The gingerbread house and other large displays in the Shops Concourse will be taken down December 27, but other World of Holiday Marvels decorations remain on view through January 2, 2014.
