As of the summer of 2009, Waterford, Connecticut, is the new taping location for the popular daytime television game show Deal or No Deal with host Howie Mandel. If you're a New England resident or visitor who would like to become a contestant (and who wouldn't want to go home with $500,000?), here's how you can apply to appear on the show:

Prospective Deal or No Deal contestants ages 18 and over who are legal residents of the 50 U.S. states or Washington, D.C., should complete and submit the online casting application. Allow plenty of time to respond thoughtfully to the detailed, essay-type questions the application poses. Although casting is now being handled by Endemol USA, you may still want to read these tips from Deal or No Deal Casting Producer Neal Konstantini to boost your chances of getting a call from the show.

Keep in mind that you must live near or plan to be in Connecticut in order to be considered.

Open auditions for Deal or No Deal are also being held at New England locations now that the show is based in Connecticut. Watch the NBC Casting site for upcoming opportunities to audition.

If you're not selected as a contestant, don't despair. You can still be a member of the Deal or No Deal studio audience. Here's how to get free tickets for a Deal or No Deal taping in Connecticut.
