A Free Place to Cool Off in Boston

Take the Kids to Rings Fountain on a Hot Day

By

When temperatures climb into the 80s or even 90s in Boston, it can make a day of walking the city and seeing the sights more taxing than the Stamp Act... especially for kids! What's a frugal parent to do? Take your kids to Rings Fountain, a free and incredibly fun place to cool off along the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway.

We stumbled upon Rings Fountain on a steamy summer day, and my daughter couldn't wait to dance and play in the random spray, as you'll see in these photos (click the thumbnails below to see full-sized photos). Rings Fountain is located at Milk Street and Atlantic Avenue in Boston, just about a block from the New England Aquarium and a six-minute walk from the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Take the T (subway) to Aquarium Station.
