It's
claws for celebration! You might expect your New England Guide to have a lobster bake wedding. You might not even be surprised if you heard that she carried a bouquet in the shape of a lobster. But I'll bet you never would've guessed in a million years that she also rode on a giant, inflatable lobster in her wedding gown! A theme wedding can be a challenge to plan--but it can also be an enormous amount of fun, particularly when the theme is so intertwined with the things about which you are most passionate. Bruce and I cherish the opportunities to travel in New England that my writing affords, and lobster was the first meal that he ever prepared for me! We were fortunate to find the perfect, rustic New England setting for our outdoor marriage ceremony and lobster clambake reception--the historic Webb House Barn in central Connecticut.
As you'll see, we needn't have worried. The weather was spectacular, in spite of foul weather predictions by the Old Farmer's Almanac (yes--I checked!), and I'm pleased to be able to provide you with this glimpse of our incredibly memorable day. Next page > Wedding Album |

Caterers of East Hartford, Connecticut, prepared the fabulous meal including
steamers and other appetizers, the traditional lobster dinner and watermelon
sorbet for dessert. Our seashell wedding cake was deliciously designed by Donna
Everett of Creative Cakes by Donna in Haddam, Connecticut.
We
were especially thrilled with the fine work of our florist, Bill Cusano of
deVars-Phillips Florists in Hartford, Connecticut. I approached other florists
with the notion of a lobster bouquet and was told it wasn't possible, but Bill's
immediate reaction was, "I'm not afraid of this wedding." He was also
responsible for the floral full moon and glittering starfish that adorned the
barn wall behind our bridal table--it was a full moon evening, and we wanted to
be prepared in case the "real" full moon was obscured by
clouds.
