Okay--I wimped out and couldn't choose just one winner for this weekend! Here's a trio of events to check out this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you're really ambitious, you might even pack them all in!
Friday, July 24, 1998
The North Country Chamber Players celebrate the 20th anniversary of their "Music in the White Mountains Summer Festival" with a Friday night Birthday Bash at the Maplewood Casino in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. The 7 p.m. performance features St. Saen's Carnival of the Animals narrated by Ben & Jerry's own Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield; the premire of a new work; and a free ice-cream social, with ice cream provided by--you guessed it--Ben & Jerry's! Saturday, July 25, 1998
The Troy Arts Festival in Troy, New Hampshire, marks its 22nd year this weekend. Artists and craftspeople will begin setting up at The Common in the center of town on Saturday morning at 7 a.m. Don't miss this day filled with great creations and free entertainment including storytelling and other events for children, plus music from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. For more information, contact Lynn Smith at (603) 242-3818.
Sunday, July 26, 1998
Sunday, July 26, is the final day for the French Film Festival at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. Films will be shown between 11:30 a.m. and 1:10 p.m., 1:45 and 3:30 p.m., and 3:45 and 5:45 p.m. in the Remis Auditorium. Admission to the showings is $6 for members and $7 for non-members for each screening. Directions and parking information are available at the museum's Web site.

Why not head for the largest free folk festival in the United States? The Lowell Folk Festival features three days of traditional music and dance, crafts, street parades, and more on six outdoor stages throughout Lowell, Massachusetts, from July 24 to 26. Take part in the 26th Annual Central Maine Egg Festival which began July 20 and runs through Saturday, July 25. Pittsfield, Maine's Manson Park is the place to be if you want to see the world's largest omelet and the world's largest egg contest.
