Last month, Boston's Computer Museum unveiled its 2,200-square foot Virtual Fish Tank. What's a Virtual Fish Tank? Well, it's a simulated aquatic environment in which visitors can create and interact with their own virtual fish and learn more about how complex watery environments work. The Virtual Fish Tank was developed in cooperation with MIT Media Lab and utilizes the latest in 3-D computer graphics and real-time, interactive character animation. The $1.2 million exhibit received half of its funding from the National Science Foundation and much support from other corporate and individual sponsors. It is driven by 22 computers connected over a high-speed fiber optic network. You can "walk through" the Virtual Fish Tank at The Computer Museum's Web site, or plan your trip by checking out the online information on visiting the museum in Boston.
