Longmeadow, Massachusetts' Bay Path College presents former Prime Minister of Great Britain Margaret Thatcher on Wednesday, June 24 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Symphony Hall in Springfield, Massachusetts. Her topic is "Challenges Facing the 21st Century." Advance reservations are required; general admission tickets are $25.00. Tickets may be reserved by calling Ticketmaster at (413) 733-2500 or ordered via Ticketmaster online.

Now through August 18, the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, features a special exhibition: "Tales from the Vault: A to Z." On display, in alphabetical arrangement, are seldom seen items and oddities from the museum's vast collection, including dressed fleas in tiny outfits filed under "I" for insects and a silver-dipped skull fabled to be that of the famous pirate, Blackbeard, found under "X" marks the spot. Also part of the exhibit is a "Gold Edition" Monopoly game dating to 1935 which belonged to the Parker family--Salem natives who created the game.

Starting tomorrow, June 2, through Sunday, June 7, the Newport International Film Festival will screen 75 movies, including three world and four U.S. premiers. Each screening will be followed by a question and answer session between audiences and filmmakers. Screenings are held at several venues in Newport, including the Opera House Theatre, Viking Chapel and the International Tennis Hall of fame. Schedule highlights include a Tuesday premier of "The Mighty" starring Sharon Stone and Gillian Anderson and a Wednesday screening of "High Society," the Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly flick set in Newport. Tickets are $7 for screenings, $10 for premiers. The online festival site is artsy and a bit tricky to navigate. Information is also available by calling (401) 421-ARTS.

Planet Sportswear presents the Boston Brewers Festival at Suffolk Downs on Friday evening, June 12, from 8 p.m. until midnight, and on Saturday, June 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 8 p.m. until midnight. Sample more than 400 beers crafted by  more than 100 microbreweries. Your admission ticket includes 20 "tasting tickets." Additional tickets may be purchased at the Brewfest at 10 for $1. Entertainment includes music, exhibits, and simulcast betting. Free parking is available at Suffolk Downs (directions available online) or access is available via the blue line. Admission is $25. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at (617) 931-2000 or (508) 931-2000 or order at Ticketmaster's online site. Tickets are also available at the festival.
