Maine Inn Wins Top Award

Dateline: 03/24/99

lodge.jpg (27676 bytes)Greenville, Maine's Lodge at Moosehead Lake was recently bestowed the 1999 Special Award for Excellence - North America, beating out all other North American inns and hotels that are members of the exclusive Johansens Association. The award was presented in November at the Dorchester Hotel in London. Each year, all member properties, regardless of size, are considered for the award. Guest recommendations are used to determine which of the properties has consistently provided the most outstanding service and ambiance.

Lodge owner Roger Cauchi said, "We are very humbled that our small inn has earned such an outstanding award, especially considering the extremely high standards found at all of the Johansens inns and hotels." Competition for this coveted recognition is fierce, he explained, for only the most distinctive "boutique" inns and hotels worldwide are invited to be members of the Johansens group in the first place.

deck.jpg (20970 bytes)Cauchi and his wife, Jennifer, have operated the Lodge, which overlooks Maine's spectacular Moosehead Lake, for five years. During this time, the Lodge at Moosehead Lake has also received AAA's highest four-diamond rating and a four-star rating from the Mobil Travel Guide. Country Inns magazine chose it as one of the top twelve inns of 1996. Articles about the Lodge have also appeared in Down East, Country Home, and Country Living magazines.

About the Lodge at Moosehead Lake

lodgebreakfast.jpg (36428 bytes)The Lodge at Moosehead Lake offers eight luxurious rooms and suites complete with Jacuzzis for two and fireplaces. An online virtual tour of the rooms will give you a sense of why Lodge guests recommended the inn for Johansens' top award. The pictures change every 20 seconds--I'm having trouble deciding which is my favorite, the Bear Room or the Moose Room! Breakfast is always included, and some stays include dinner as well.

You can check availability and rates online. Reservations may be made by contacting the Cauchis at (207) 695-4400 or by email.
