Vermont Inn Offers
Two Special Getaway Packages
Dateline: 02/15/99
Newfane, Vermont's Four Columns Inn has announced two new special packages. If you're looking to plan a unique escape to southern Vermont, here are the details:
Pamper Yourself Package
If you're looking for a cure for cabin fever, book yourself a two-night "Pamper Yourself" getaway package. Through April 3, the Four Columns Inn offers guests two nights' accommodations, a romantic gourmet dinner by the fire, breakfast each morning, a one-hour massage given in the privacy of your room, and a special welcome gift. Rates for the package range from $390 per couple for a standard room to $540 per couple for a luxury suite including all taxes and gratuities. Most rooms have gas-log fireplaces.
James Beard Dinner Feast Package
The James Beard House in New Yorks Greenwich Village was founded in 1985 by Julia Child to foster the appreciation and development of the Epicurean arts. And chef Greg Parks of the Four Columns Inn is about to join the ranks of esteemed chefs who have been honored with an invitation to prepare dinner at this one-of-a-kind institution. He joins a list that includes such renowned chefs as television's Jacques Pepin, Wolfgang Puck of Spago in Los Angeles, Daniel Boulud of Cafe Daniel and Daniel Restaurant in New York, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten of New York's Jean Georges and Mercer Kitchen.
The March 16 event is reserved for food industry insiders, but don't despair! Parks will be back at Four Columns Inn working his magic, and you can take advantage of the inn's special James Beard Dinner Feast package from April 4 through July 1, excluding Memorial Day weekend. Stay any two nights at the inn and enjoy a five-course, candlelit, gourmet dinner for two prepared by Parks with a complimentary glass of wine. According to a news release, some of Chef Parks specialties are, "appetizers such as tartare of yellow fin tuna with soy, wasabi, ginger and American sturgeon caviar and miso tapenade, or spicy Vermont quail with arugula, goat cheese and smoked bacon. Main courses for the spring may include seared rare tuna with noodles in a ginger lemongrass bouillon or black Angus sirloin with a horseradish portabella sauce."
Was that enough to whet your appetite? The package price of $340-$490 per couple depending upon room selection also includes breakfast each morning and all taxes and gratuities.
