"I Went to the Woods...

...because I wished to live deliberately," wrote Henry David Thoreau, who is depicted in this statue at Walden Pond State Reservation. Behind the statue, you can see the replica of the modest, one-room cabin that Thoreau called home for two years and two months. Thoreau's original cabin was located at a site overlooking Walden Pond. This replica, however, is situated near the entrance to the state park.
