Henry David Thoreau retreated to Walden Pond to contemplate nature and to ponder the meaning of life. Though the seclusion he found is no longer available, many of the other qualities of Walden Pond that inspired his thinking can still be found by visitors to the pond today. Walden Pond is a popular place for strolling, sketching or simply sitting and meditating.
