Glitter: Actually, the completion of the Mohegan Sun Hotel marks the finale of a two-year, $1.1 billion expansion project, Project Sunburst. Here we see Mohegan Tribal Council Chairman Mark Brown, at left, welcoming those who have assembled to witness the official ribbon-cutting marking the opening of the casino hotel, including Connecticut Governor John Rowland, at right. At a press conference following the ribbon-cutting, Brown said that the completion of the hotel represented the achievement of two goals: "to continue to translate the culture and the tradition of the Mohegans through the design of our facilities" and "to support the economy of the state of Connecticut by building a true world-class sports, meetings and leisure destination."
