Gray Seal Picture - Photo of Seal off Cape Cod

We learned a number of interesting seal facts from Captain David Murdoch of Chatham Water Tours, including the fact that the female gray seals, such as the one in this picture, are lighter in color than the males. Gray seals, like the ones who inhabit the waters off Cape Cod, have a life span of 30 to 40 years. Mother seals give birth in the winter following an 11-month gestation. Gray seals like to eat sand eels.
