September 17, 2008
I'm thrilled to be sharing the view outside my window for the tenth year as New
England's annual parade of autumn colors steps off. I've received many emails
over the past decade from students, displaced New Englanders and other fall
foliage fanatics who eagerly anticipate each week's new image. As you can see from this first photo from the
2008 fall foliage season, my view is still primarily green, although there are
definitely a few golden touches in my view. A few trees here in
Connecticut are showing off their colors early, but most won't start to change in
earnest for several weeks still. Hurricane Hanna sent a few leaves flying to the
ground earlier this month, but trees still look lush and healthy, and I'm
predicting that we're in for a spectacular foliage season.
