September 15, 2006
I always enjoy sharing the view outside my window with the world as autumn decorates New England, and as you can see from this first image from the
2006 fall foliage season, my view is still very green. I took this photo the morning
after a rainstorm, just before leaving Connecticut for northwestern Maine. On
the drive, we saw early signs of color along the Massachusetts Turnpike, and
once we reached Maine, it was clear that this year's foliage show is definitely
underway. Some of the region's forestry experts have been predicting that the
color change will come early and be particularly spectacular this year. So far,
I'm seeing evidence to support their forecasts. Perhaps we'll even see hints of
color in next week's photo of the view from my window.
