On what dates will the fall leaves be at their best? It's the question on everybody's mind as autumn arrives each year in New England. For a sense of how the leaves changed week to week in
2002, click on these links for images of the view outside my window in Central Connecticut.

There's much more color to see as October comes to an end here in Connecticut.
The big news is--my baby girl arrived October 26 in plenty of time to do some
leaf peeping! There are more and more leaves to rake, but there are still quite
a few hanging on as we head into November.

There's a bit more color in my view now--the yellow is more pronounced, and
there are some spots of orange if you look carefully. Hubby raked today for the
first time, but there are still a lot of leaves on the trees--many of them
steadfastly green. We're certainly not at peak yet here in Connecticut, and all
signs point to one of the longest and latest foliage seasons in recent memory.

The bad news is... Columbus Day Weekend was pretty much a washout here in
Connecticut thanks to all the rain. The good news, as you can see, is that the
colors are still changing very slowly, so there is still plenty of time to catch
a glimpse of fall color before the season is over.

There is a wee bit more yellow in my view this week, but the predominant color
is still green. It appears that this may be a rather late foliage season. A few
leaves are starting to tumble to the ground, and there are some signs of color
around, but most of the leaves seem to be stubbornly clinging to their summer
hues. I spent a night in the hospital last week--it appears that baby is anxious
to arrive in time to do a bit of leaf peeping!

Ah... another fall foliage season. This is a special fall for me, as I am about
to welcome a new junior leaf peeper in training. My first baby is due November
12. So far in Connecticut, it's hard to believe that we're headed into fall.
Temperatures are supposed to top 80 degrees this week, and the view outside my
window is mostly green.
