Meditation Weekend in Maine

Acres of Austria, a Fryeburg, Maine, bed & breakfast, will
offer a "Relaxation Through Meditation Weekend Getaway" March 19-21, 1999. If you're looking to relax, to sharpen your awareness, and to improve your overall well-being, this might just be the break you need.

The program includes a chance to explore different meditation techniques and relaxation exercise. The presenter, Karen McCarthy, MA, LCPC, LADC, is a therapist in private practice who has been a workshop presenter and meditation group facilitator.

Cost is $159 per person double occupancy ($199 per person single occupancy) including lodging on Friday and Saturday nights, breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, a snack Friday evening, and dinner on Saturday, plus about eight hours total of meditation instruction and practice. If you'd like to participate in the workshops but do not need accommodations at the B&B, the price is $75 per person.

Innkeeper Candice Redl offers this description of Acres of Austria: "As you leave Route 5 and travel down our half-mile driveway through the woods, you literally leave the world behind you. As you approach the estate, you pass through our wrought iron and fieldstone archway, pass the wishing well and [arrive
at] the house with spectacular views of the White Mountains. In our Great Room, you'll find inviting window seats overlooking the meandering Old Course of the Saco River. In the middle of the room is a gigantic, four-sided fieldstone fireplace which reaches up through the 16-foot cathedral ceiling. Franz's 'out-of-this- world' breakfasts and scrumptious Austrian dinners are served alongside this crackling fireplace."
