Politicians, NBA representatives and Basketball Hall of Fame officials spoke at the grand opening ceremonies for the new Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, but none received quite the reception that was given to Massachusetts' own Larry Bird. The Boston Celtics star was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1998.
