Spend
a Fall Day in
Southern Vermont's Gateway:
Armstrong's
Dateline: 09/30/99
Just a bit further
south of The Apple Barn on Route 7,
Armstrong's, a smaller farm market, is nevertheless a great place for a quick
stop--especially for pumpkins! I didn't notice it heading north toward Bennington, but as
I drove south toward home, the pumpkins spelling out "VERMONT" certainly caught
my eye!
Armstrong's has
pumpkins of all sizes and prices to select from, plus other decorative fall items such as
corn stalks, Indian corn, and colorful gourds.
As the sun began
to wane, it was time for me to relinquish Robert Frost's notion of
taking "the road less traveled by" and instead head back along the very well
traveled Mass Pike, leaving Vermont's gold-flecked
Green Mountains and the first signs of autumn in New England behind... munching Macouns from The Apple Barn all along the way.
