New England Q&A Archive
Question 3 - June 3, 1999
Even though I reside in Idaho right now, I was born and raised in Maine. I found a great clam chowder recipe on your web site, but the one I really would like to get ahold of is a fried clam recipe. Can you help me? If there are no recipes, how about a vendor that I can contact to get some shipped?

Hi Gary!
Thanks for writing. Boy! Tracking down fried clams on the Web was harder than I'd have
guessed! Here's what I've come up with for you...
I didn't really find an authentic New England fried clam recipe online. I did find these
two:
Basic fried clam recipe from QVC's In the
Kitchen with Bob
Spicy Fried
Clams from Salvatore's Kitchen
I did a bit better finding places where you could order fried clams online.
Linton Seafood in Maryland (not New England, but close!) sell clams and fried clam batter
online. Their Web site is at: http://www.lintonsseafood.com/clam.html
Or... best yet... Ipswich, Massachusetts, is very famous for its clams, and Ipswich Shellfish has both breaded
and frying clams on its list of products that can be ordered by calling them toll free at
1 800 IPSWICH.
Gary, I hope that's helpful! Let me know how you make out.
Here's to delicious clams on the stove or in the mail!
All best wishes,
Kim Knox
