New England Q&A Archive

Question 25 - December 5, 1999

Hi. I am searching for a cabin where three friends and I would like to spend New Year's and a couple days afterwards. Do you rent cabins and have any available for that time? If not, would you know of any place that do? I live in Northern New Jersey (right outside New York City), so ideally we are looking for a place as close to there as possible, but we are flexible.

Thanks in advance,
Greg P.

Answer from Kim Knox,
About.com Guide to New England for Visitors:

Hi Greg,

Well, I'm just a freelance writer, so I'm afraid I don't have any cabins to rent to you. :-) However, you can find a number of resources for locating rental properties under "Vacation Rentals" at my New England for Visitors Web site.

Connecticut is the closest New England state to New Jersey. You may also want to check my Connecticut camping links, as some of the campgrounds in Connecticut have cabins available for rent. However, you will need to check with the individual campgrounds as to whether they are only open seasonally or have heated cabins available for winter camping.

I hope that helps to get you started in planning your New Year's getaway.

All best wishes,
Kim Knox
