Question 20 - October 24, 1999

I recently moved to Worcester, MA, and I am wondering if there is a place similar to Medieval Times in the Central Massachusetts area. Medieval Times has several locations across the country. They offer a wonderful evening of entertainment that includes a jousting tournament and a meal without utensils. I would be happy with information about a similar attraction. Right now, I am very frustrated because this is something I would like to do for my husband's birthday this Friday, October 29. Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, Medieval Times does not have any New England outlets. The closest one would probably be the one in Times Square in New York City. And the only Renaissance Fair I know of in Massachusetts, King Richard's Faire, ended October 17.

HOWEVER... Worcester is home to the Higgins Armory Museum, the only museum in the Western Hemisphere dedicated solely to arms and armor. Perhaps a visit to the museum would make a good substitute if your husband is into things medieval. The museum does do birthday parties, but I think that they are geared to young children. Not that that matters! :-)

You might also want to check with Hammond Castle (north of Boston) to see if they have any special events planned.
