I usually find myself longing for my own bed when I'm on the road. At the Wentworth by the Sea in New Castle, New Hampshire, though, I knew the moment I awoke that I would miss my hotel pillow when I arrived home!
I've never done anything quite like this before, but I began peeling the layers of pillow cases from my pillow until I found the object of my quest--the "pillow materials" tag that you're not supposed to remove unless you're prepared to face dire consequences. Luckily, in our modern wired world, that pillow tag had not only the manufacturer's name and address, but its Web site URL.
A visit to the Pacific Coast Feather Company Web site (Shop Direct), and a call to the company's toll free number, 888-297-1778, confirmed that the pillow that had cradled me through a marvelous night's sleep was aptly named the Down Around (Buy Direct). According to Pacific Coast's Web site: "Many weary travelers profess this pillow has given them their best night's sleep ever!" I was not alone.
The pillow's secret, I firmly believe, is duck down. The pillow's supportive inner chamber is stuffed with a blend of feathers and down, and the outside is a delightfully fluffy duck down cloud. The Down Around Pillow (Buy Direct) is available for online ordering in three sizes, and my two glorious pillows arrived quickly via standard FedEx ground shipping.
Now I dream that I'm sleeping in an elegant grand hotel every night, which is great... until I wake up and realize there's no spa downstairs and I have to make my own bed.
