Question 43: Where to See Cranberry Bogs in New England

By Kim Knox Beckius, About.com

September 11, 2000

My parents will be in New England October 2 - 10. Where can they go to see a cranberry bog? Ocean Spray's website seemed to say theirs was only open to the media.

- Joy B.

Answer from Kim Knox,
About.com Guide to New England for Visitors:

Dear Joy,

Well, I think their very best bet would be to try to make it to the Massachusetts Cranberry Harvest Festival, which runs October 7-9, 2000 in South Carver, Massachusetts. Cranberry harvesting tours are just one of the many things on the program. You can get all of the information about the festival here:
http://www.cranberries.org/festival.htm

Also, the last I knew, Ocean Spray's Cranberry World in Plymouth, Massachusetts, was open free to the public. Here's a write-up from Boston Insider that includes a phone number, so you may want to call them to check for sure.

I hope that helps!
All best wishes,
Kim Knox
