Six Flags New England is the region's largest theme park and a great choice for family fun from spring through fall. The former Riverside amusement park in Agawam, Massachusetts, became Six Flags New England in 2000, marking Six Flags Theme Parks Inc.'s first foray into the New England states. Six Flags New England delivers all of the thrill rides, tamer rides, children's rides and amusements and shows and events that visitors to the theme park company's other 13 North American locations have flocked to year after year. In 2003, the Island Kingdom Water Park was expanded and renamed Hurricane Harbor, and in 2007, the addition of Wiggles World and Thomas Town enhanced Six Flags New England's appeal for young children. There are more new park features in store for 2009 including the transformed BIZARRO coaster, which debuts Memorial Day weekend.

For the 2009 season, the park will be open Friday through Sunday starting April 10 (plus weekdays during spring school break weeks April 13-24). It then operates seven days a week from Friday, May 22 until Sunday, August 30. Six Flags New England will be open Friday, September 4, through Monday, September 7 for the Labor Day holiday weekend. During the remainder of September, the amusement park will be open weekends only, and from October 3 through the end of October, it will be open weekends, plus Monday, October 12 (Columbus Day) and Fridays, October 23 and 39. A complete calendar with hours of operation is available at the Six Flags New England Web site. Hurricane Harbor Waterpark hours and dates may vary from the Six Flags New England schedule.
