Yankee Candle Company, Inc. had $785.8 million in sales in 2011 and operates more than 500 retail stores throughout the United States, and yet this candlemaking giant still maintains its homespun charm at its South Deerfield, Massachusetts, headquarters, which draws millions of visitors each year. It is, by some reports, New England's second most popular tourist attraction. In fact, the Yankee Candle Company bills its South Deerfield location as being the "Scenter of New England"!
The Yankee Candle flagship store in South Deerfield is the Disney World of candles. You can literally lose yourself for hours in its winding, cavernous showrooms and among its tantalizing scents. Be sure to pick up one of the handy maps of the complex: They're available near entrances.
In addition to finding the largest imaginable selection of Yankee candles in an endless array of fragrances and colors, you'll find kitchen and home accessories, New England crafts, collectibles, toys, gifts galore, custom gift baskets, picnic grounds, Chandler's Restaurant and even a Black Forest room in the Christmas Shop where it snows year round! There's also a Wax Works, where you can make your own wax souvenir of your visit.
The Yankee Candle complex is handicapped accessible: Complimentary wheelchairs are available. Groups are welcome to make reservations to visit by calling the Tour Department at 413-665-8306, ext. 1206.
