Tickets for the 2009 concert season at Tanglewood go on sale starting Sunday, February 15, 2009. Online sales begin at 8 a.m. Phone sales begin at 10 a.m. Tickets for James Taylor's three August performances are currently on sale.
Tickets may be ordered online using the Boston Symphony Orchestra's secure server. Browse the 2009 Season Schedule on the Tanglewood Web site, find the event(s) you are interested in attending and use a credit card to make your purchase. There is a $5.50 per ticket service fee for online ticket orders.

You may charge your tickets using a major credit card. There is a $5.50 handling fee for each ticket ordered by phone.
In Person
Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Tanglewood Box Office beginning June 19, 2009. Before the start of the season, the box office is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. When the Tanglewood season begins, the box office usually opens daily at 10 a.m. (9 a.m. for Open Rehearsals) and closes at 6 p.m. on non-concert evenings, at intermission on Music Shed concert evenings and a half-hour after the start of performances for concerts at Ozawa Hall. 2009 Lawn Pass Books
Lawn Pass Books of 11 lawn tickets are available at the special price of $170 through June 24. After June 24, they may be purchased for $180. Some performances are excluded.
Lawn Ticket Rain Upgrades
Reluctant to purchase lawn tickets due to the chance of rain? Lawn tickets for select concerts can be upgraded at the Tanglewood Box Office if it is raining on the day of a concert for the difference in cost between the lawn price paid and the price of a Shed ticket. Upgrading lawn tickets for Shed seating is subject to availability.
Free Lawn Seats for Children and Teenagers
For 2009, Tanglewood will expand its free lawn ticket program, previously only for children under the age of 12, to all youth under the age of 18 who are accompanied by a parent or other guardian. Tickets are available from the Tanglewood Box Office on the day of the concert. Up to four free children's lawn tickets are offered per parent/guardian. Please note that children under the age of 5 are not permitted in either the Koussevitzky Music Shed, Seiji Ozawa Hall or the Theatre during concerts, and families with young children must sit on the rear half of the lawn.
