Each week or so, I'll post a new photo of the view from my window, giving you a timely and authentic look at the progression of the fall foliage season and an update on current foliage conditions. And each photo will be archived here, so autumn's changing hues will be just a click away as the season progresses. Make a cup of hot tea or cider, and wherever you are in the world, sit back for a moment and glance through a New England window at the glory of the annual onset of fall. Enjoy!

We bid a gentle "farewell" to the season this week, as late day sun shines through the mostly bare trees in my view. Tomorrow, all of New England will be celebrating Halloween AND a Red Sox World Series victory! If you've only shared this fall foliage season with me virtually, vow now to visit New England and play in the pretty leaves in 2014.

As leaves fade and fall, I always admire the tenacious ones that hang on! As you'll see in this latest look at the view outside my window, we're definitely past peak here in central Connecticut, but there is still drama unfolding as the season winds down.

The leaves have made a quantum leap since last week, and those that still cling to their branches are in their golden glory. I know I should spend the upcoming weekend raking, but there's a Guinness World Record at stake at the Keene Pumpkin Festival!

It's been a fast and furious fall when it comes to color change, and this week, you'll see leaves that are hurtling toward their peak in my view. I'm crossing my fingers that winds don't detach any more of these colorful beauties prematurely.

It is the most golden and glorious fall day imaginable, and I am having the darndest time concentrating on work! Even though my work involves sharing foliage photos like this with you, as well as this latest look at my view, which is strikingly different this week.

We've been having brilliant, blue sky days here in Connecticut, and if you squint, you may see a hint of color in my view this week. Even though the season is getting off to a slow start, this is going to be a phenomenal weekend to get out and enjoy fall events in the region.

I actually considered starting a fire in my office woodstove last night, and a local farmer reported patches of frost this morning. Did the cold overnight blast awaken the leaves? You'll see in this latest view of my backyard.
September 11, 2013
The leaves outside my window are still convinced it's summer, but oh, how the scene will change in the next few weeks! On this twelfth anniversary of 9/11, it's an ideal time to remember how quickly seasons change and how precious and fragile life is. I hope you'll pause with me each week to appreciate the loveliness that emerges as autumn descends upon New England. My bet is that this will be one of the best foliage displays we've seen here in Connecticut in years.
