Better known as "The Big E," the Eastern States Exposition is the nation's ninth largest fair and the largest agricultural fair in the Northeast. This event celebrates the arts, history, agriculture and products of all six New England states. Special events during the fair's multi-week run include concerts by top entertainers, a circus and even a Mardi Gras parade.

Bring the whole clan! The New Hampshire Highland Games are the premier Scottish cultural festival in the country, according to the ABA. This event features entertainment from Scotland and North America and combines the best of Celtic and Gaelic cultures. There will be bagpipe bands and Highland dancers on hand to entertain visitors. Competitions include contests of strength, sheepdog trials and a fiddling championship. The Highland Games make the ABA's Top 100 Events list for the fifth consecutive year.

Rhode Island's Roger Williams Park Zoo becomes a Halloween fantasyland thanks to the presence of 5,000 illuminated pumpkins created by more than 30 carvers. The display encompasses a three-acre woodland trail and features scenes from children's stories and depictions of historical figures, sports greats and celebrities carved into glowing pumpkins.
