Centrally located on the Cape in South Yarmouth, the Red Jacket Beach specializes in family vacations, and though accommodations, which range from balconied hotel rooms to private cottages, are a bit more expensive than you'll find at some of the smaller family motels on Cape Cod, the included amenities are worth every penny.
Ocean fun is one of the prime reasons to choose Cape Cod as a vacation destination, but getting to public beaches can often present traffic and parking hassles. At the Red Jacket Beach resort, guests need merely step outside their doors to enjoy a private, 700-foot sandy beach. Because the resort is located at the tip of South Shore Drive, once you enter the property, there are no worries about traffic or parking. In addition to swimming, sunbathing and sand castle building, the Red Jacket Beach offers kayak and pedal boat rentals and parasailing and jet skiing adventures right from its own dock.
The outdoor pool is shielded from ocean breezes by a Plexiglas screen, and the large indoor pool and hot tub are a perfect alternative on rainy days or during the shoulder seasons.
The Red Jacket Beach is open from early April through October. In the spring and fall, rates are more affordable, and the Red Jacket Beach is a good choice for a quiet Cape escape or a corporate retreat. In the summer, rates soar, but they also include the resort's Youth Recreation Program, which keeps kids entertained weekdays with supervised lawn and pool games, arts and crafts, relay races and other fun activities. On select weekday evenings, kids can enjoy a "night out" at the movies or an evening of lawn game competitions.
