A Perfect Fifteen
Five Final Reasons to Love Boston's XV Beacon

XI. The Fruit

A tower of scarlet-red apples stacked in a tall, slim, glass vase added a touch of New England to our Studio room. Bowls of fresh fruit were available in the hallways of the hotel, as well--one of those nice and very noticeable extra touches. (Continued Below)

XII. The Mercedes

While many Boston highlights are within easy walking distance of XV Beacon, you may, of course, have cause to venture further afield. XV Beacon offers complimentary, chauffeured Mercedes sedan service for its guests. Unfortunately, we were unable to make use the Mercedes, as other guests had reserved it for their transportation, so keep in mind that it is a good idea to make these arrangements in advance. The doorman was happy, though, to summon a cab for us.

XIII. The Staff

In addition to providing impeccable service, all of the staff we encountered at XV Beacon seemed personable and eager to please. They also seemed to have a profound sense of respect for their place of employment. XV Beacon is a bit of a wonder--an imaginative take on up-to-date elegance, where movers and shakers can either entertain associates or lock the door and feel free not to move and shake quite so much for a spell.

XIV. The Fed

Breakfast at the Fed Eggs Benedict PictureXV Beacon's restaurant, The Federalist, has been making a name for itself in Boston. The best news is--the restaurant's menu is available to hotel guests via room service, 24 hours a day. We had a delectable breakfast at the Fed (I could probably wax poetic for at least a paragraph just about the Hollandaise sauce on my Eggs Benedict), but were turned away in the evening when Bruce asked about smoking a cigar in the lounge area, as that is apparently only permitted late in the evening after the dinner crowd has subsided. The dinner menu features a mix of Continental dishes and New England classics.

XV. The Wine Cellar

Hidden away underneath The Federalist in what was the original granite foundation of the 1722 Bromfield Mansion is The Wine Cellar. The Wine Cellar is not only a repository for The Fed's extensive and rather amazing collection of rare, fine wines, it is a unique private dining room that seats 40 or can accommodate up to 75 invitees for a reception.

Phew--I did it. Fifteen reasons to love XV Beacon. So, what's not to love? Perhaps the only thing that might daunt you from picking up the phone and calling, toll free, 877 XVBEACON, for reservations is, alas, the price.

Room rates start at $395 per night for a Classic room. Studio rates start at $550 per night and Suites are priced starting at $1,200 per night. If money is no object, a Private Floor may be reserved starting at $3,500.
