Monday's Superstorm Sandy caused extensive flooding, power outages and property damage in southern New England coastal communities. Four Connecticut counties (Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London) have been declared federal disaster areas, and the Rhode Island shore was hard hit, too. Metro-North train service on the New Haven line remains curtailed (see current Metro-North service advisories). If you're a New Englander who, like me, was fortunate to be spared the worst of the devastation, or, if you love New England or have ties to the region and would like to support recovery efforts, here are some ways to help New England recover from Hurricane Sandy.
