Last Call, Leaf Peepers!

By October 24, 2012

Follow me on:

Last year's October snow storm devastated fall foliage, knocked out power and even KO'd Halloween! So, I sure hope forecasters who are predicting New England will be pummeled by a Hurricane Sandy-spawned Nor'easter next week have it all wrong. As you can see in the latest view outside my window, rich late autumn colors persist here in Connecticut, and I'm certainly not ready for wind and rain to obliterate the beauty that remains.

If you're visiting the Northeast this weekend, some of your best bets for spying lingering fall color will be in southern Vermont's valleys, along New Hampshire's petite shoreline, on Cape Cod and New York's Long Island and in Connecticut's shoreline towns. Use my Leaf Alert guide to access foliage reports that will lead you to the best places to see late-season leaves. There are plenty of fun fall events happening in the Northeast this weekend, too, so don't sit at home. Even if we don't see a massive storm early next week, dreary winter weather will be here all too soon!
