Strong fall color is on display now in southern New Hampshire's Merrimack Valley and Seacoast regions and in southeastern Massachusetts. There are still leaves to see in New York's Lower Hudson Valley, and in Vermont, late season color lingers in the Champlain Valley. Connecticut visitors will find bursts of peak color inland, and it's a pretty time to explore the Connecticut Wine Trail
. If you're hitting the road this weekend, you won't be disappointed in southern New England's autumn panoramas.
Use my Leaf Alert guide to find current online foliage reports for all of the New England states and neighboring New York, or call one of the region's toll-free hotlines for up-to-date foliage reports and forecasts before you leave home.
As you can see from the latest snapshot of the view outside my window, leaves continue to gleam here in Connecticut. Mild daytime temperatures make this a perfect time to hike in New England's fallen leaves and to collect a few for fall craft projects.
