I hate when it snows in October, so I sincerely hope the forecasters who are predicting snow in the region tomorrow evening have got it all wrong. As you can see in the latest view outside my window, golden-hued leaves are hanging on here in Connecticut, and I'm certainly not ready for this dazzling scene to be whited out.

If you're visiting the Northeast this weekend, some of your best bets for spying lingering fall color will be in southern Vermont's lower elevations, along New Hampshire's abbreviated shoreline, in Greater Boston, along Route 6A between Sandwich and Brewster on Cape Cod, and in New York State's Westchester County. Use my Leaf Alert guide to access foliage reports that will lead you to the best places to see late-season leaves. There are plenty of fun fall events happening in the Northeast this weekend, too, so don't sit at home. Even if we don't see snow this week, winter will be here all too soon!
